The powerful shields will regen way faster than a single fighters output Why are people insisting on making it a battleship? If I run up against one that only has a pilot and no gunners, or doesn't have enough gunners, they are going to have a bad time.ĮDIT: Something I wanted to add: Hammerhead exemplifies "the best defense is a good offense." It can shred fighters like clockwork. More specifically, the smallest UEE corvette. If you, with not one, not two, but six turrets evenly space around the hull with quad Size 4 turrets cannot take down a Hornet in that amount of time, you deserve to explode. You can sit there with quad rhinos next to a HH unmoving and just tape down your fire button and not kill the damn thing because you can't down the shields.Īlso, what's w/ this idea that a single Hornet should not be able to eventually kill the thing (even if it might take a solid half-hour to 45 minutes of pounding)? It should totally be possible. A single HH turret can wipe my shields and then me out way faster. Oh, and by the way, that was with the HH pilot sitting in front of me unmoving and it still took three minutes of consistent fire. So it would be good to bring ships with good radar, some heavy fighters for dealing with long-range threats, and an agile dogfighter or two that can support the heavy fighters.Įxcuse me? Have you tried to kill the damn thing before? The only thing I've managed to kill it with is a Constellation using quad Combines and that still doesn't take down the shields, the damage just goes through and eventually kills it. I suspect that the Drake Corsair will be announced with similar firepower to the Connie, so that may be an alternative option in the future.Īnyone with a HH will need to plan their fleet to compensate for its weaknesses: namely its extremely weak radar (medium size) and its short weapons range. Throwing in some EMP ships and/or torpedoes would speed things up, but shouldn't be necessary. How many Connies you need will depend on how strong the HH's shields end up, but the strategy should scale up pretty well. The most efficient way to kill a lone Hammerhead would be to have a number of Constellations running 4x M7As which can kite the HH while taking care not to stray into its weapons range. The Constellation series can equip four S5 weapons, which have a maximum range of 7.2km (M7As). Anyone who takes ballistic gatlings will be down to an almost unusable 1.5km. The default weapon range is 2.4km (S4 Rhinos) and the maximum weapon range is 5.1km (S4 M6As). Lure it into an asteroid field and let it smash into thingsįriendly fire against Advocacy ships and make it wantedĭump a Hull-E full load of cargo as a minefield in it's path Looong range torpedo barrage (utilizing stealth components and good radar range)ĭistortion weapons to disable the ship insteadĪll railgun fitting to ignore the HH shield and try to go for the meat directly (will cost a number of attackers regardless) Stealth fitted EMP ship as initial attack So, while people mention a lot of different ship groupings im more wondering what the BEST way to take it out would be?Ī multitude of options are available and let's remove the notion that a single Hornet or other ship can take it out solo (might be in Alpha, but not later). Not something you want to bump into the night with a small ship. It's a hell of a barrage screen for anything small It is now an anti-fighter/medium/large kind of ship Now, a Hammerhead IS a little squishy since armour is not fully implemented but let's skip ahead a little and look at what it will be.
